Prime Minister Narendra Modi marked his 75th birthday on September 17, with greetings pouring in from across India and abroad. While the celebrations were modest, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) launched a nationwide campaign called “Sewa Pakhwada” to commemorate the occasion.
The two-week initiative, which began on September 17, will continue till October 2, Mahatma Gandhi’s birth anniversary. The campaign focuses on public welfare and service-oriented activities, including blood donation drives, health check-up camps, cleanliness initiatives, tree plantation, and outreach programs for marginalized communities.
BJP leaders and party workers across states have been urged to actively participate in the campaign, ensuring that it reflects the Prime Minister’s vision of “Seva Hi Sangathan” (Service is Organization).
While birthday wishes to PM Modi flooded social media platforms, the emphasis remained on social service rather than grand celebrations. The campaign is expected to mobilize thousands of volunteers and highlight the government’s ongoing welfare schemes at the grassroots level.
Political analysts say the initiative also strengthens BJP’s connect with the public, keeping the focus on service, inclusivity, and nation-building.
