India’s ancient and time-tested Siddha system of medicine is ready to take center stage as the Ministry of Ayush prepares to celebrate the 9th Siddha Day on January 3, 2026, at Kalaivanar Arangam, Chennai. The event, themed “Siddha for Global Health,” showcases the growing international relevance of India’s traditional medical wisdom.
The Vice President of India, Shri C.P. Radhakrishnan, will inaugurate and preside over the grand समारोह. The celebration is being organized by the National Institute of Siddha (NIS), Central Council for Research in Siddha (CCRS), in collaboration with the Government of Tamil Nadu.

The event coincides with the birth anniversary of Sage Agastya, revered as the father of Siddha medicine. Every year, National Siddha Day is observed on January 6, reaffirming India’s commitment to preserving and promoting its traditional healthcare systems.
Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Ayush Shri Prataprao Jadhav, Tamil Nadu Health Minister Shri Ma. Subramanian, Ayush Secretary Padma Shri Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, and several senior officials, researchers, academicians, and practitioners will be present at the event.

A key highlight of the 9th Siddha Day celebration will be the felicitation of five distinguished personalities who have made exceptional contributions to the development, research, and global promotion of Siddha medicine.
Scholars, scientists, Siddha physicians, and students from Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and other states are expected to participate in large numbers, making the event a vibrant confluence of tradition, science, and innovation.
