As part of the build-up to the NCC Prime Minister’s Rally 2026, the NCC Directorate Maharashtra has undertaken a long-distance Cycle Expedition titled ‘Shaurya ke Kadam, Kranti ki Ore’, covering the route from Pune to New Delhi. The expedition aims to spread the message of national integration, patriotism, and historical awareness among citizens.
The expedition follows the historic route of the 1736 Delhi campaign led by Maratha Peshwa Bajirao I, connecting India’s rich military heritage with the spirit of today’s youth. Through this initiative, NCC seeks to inspire discipline, endurance, unity, and respect for the nation’s freedom fighters.
The expedition team consists of 12 NCC cadets—including 6 Senior Division and 6 Senior Wing cadets—from NCC Group Amravati. The team is supported by one NCO (PI Staff) along with a dedicated core support team. The expedition is being led by Brigadier Sachin Gawali, Group Commander, NCC Group Headquarters Amravati.
Spanning a total distance of 1,680 kilometers across five States and Union Territories, the journey is planned over 21 cycling days. The expedition was flagged off from Shaniwar Wada, Pune on 24 December 2025 and reached Bhopal on 03 January 2026, after halting at Manchar, Sangamner, Manmad, Dhule, Sendhwa, Dhamnod, Mhow, Dewas, and Sehore. It will proceed to Vidisha on 04 January 2026 and is scheduled to reach New Delhi on 16 January 2026.
So far, the team has successfully covered approximately 850 kilometers in 10 cycling days, demonstrating remarkable endurance and commitment. The expedition will be flagged in by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India on 27 January 2026 during the NCC PM Rally in New Delhi.
During the journey, the cadets paid homage at the Samadhi of Peshwa Bajirao I at Raverkhedi, located on the banks of the Narmada River, and visited several historically significant sites from the Peshwa era. Local NCC units organized warm receptions at all halt locations, including felicitation of Veer Naris and Ex-Servicemen, interactions with Ex-NCC cadets, and participation of local cadets in cycle rallies and padyatra events.
Cultural programmes and Nukkad Nataks depicting Maratha military campaigns were also performed during the expedition, receiving wide appreciation from the public. The initiative stands as a powerful symbol of youth energy, historical pride, and the enduring values of unity and nationalism promoted by the National Cadet Corps.
