India has achieved a historic milestone in defence exports, reaching a record ₹38,424 crore in the financial year 2025-26. This marks a significant increase of ₹14,802 crore (62.66%) compared to ₹23,622 crore in the previous financial year.
This remarkable achievement reflects the growing strength of India’s defence manufacturing ecosystem and aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of positioning India among the world’s top defence exporters.
📈 Strong Contribution from Public and Private Sectors
Both Defence Public Sector Undertakings (DPSUs) and private sector companies have played a crucial role in this growth:
- DPSUs contributed ₹21,071 crore (54.84%)
- Private sector contributed ₹17,353 crore (45.16%)
Notably, exports from DPSUs surged by an impressive 151%, while the private sector recorded a steady growth of 14%, highlighting increased participation and competitiveness.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh praised the efforts of the Department of Defence Production, exporters, and stakeholders for this outstanding performance.
He stated that India is rapidly moving towards becoming a global hub for defence manufacturing, and under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the country is scripting an impressive success story in defence exports.

The record export figures indicate a nearly threefold increase over the past five years, showcasing the growing global acceptance of Indian defence products.

- Number of exporters increased from 128 to 145 (13.3% growth)
